The UNESCO World Geopark of the Madonie is a park in the province of Palermo that is of particular geological and geomorphological interest as it encompasses all aspects of the morphological changes that have occurred in Sicily over the last 220 million years.
The Madonie UNESCO World Park contains over 40 geosites that are of particular importance to scholars from all over the world in the fields of science, history and geology, but not only! The site protects a rare heritage of flora, which includes some species found only here.
The trails and paths that can be visited are around 300 kilometres long in total and are full of museums, sports activities that can be enjoyed, urban geological trails and educational activities, as they are also the subject of study by three Environmental Education and Interpretation Centres.
