Strombolicchio is an islet north of Stromboli in the Aeolian Islands archipelago.
It is a 50-meter-high rock that represents a 300-square-meter nature reserve where vegetation is scarce. Despite this, an endangered flower called Granata Rupicola grows on it that is also present on the island of Capri in about 100 specimens.
A stupendous lighthouse stands proudly on its summit, yet its life is less poetic than one might imagine: it is run by the Italian Navy and is fully automated.
The volcanic islet represents a protected nature reserve, so it is not possible to approach or land without a guide.
