Sferracavallo, is located on the northern border of Palermo, near Mondello.
There where the sea is blue and fishermen meet to play cards and spend their afternoons.
The name “Sferracavallo” derives from the condition of the roads at the time, which “lashed” the horses.
In the fishing village, it is possible to observe nature in all its forms.
At Punta Barcarello is the Torre Fortino, which served to protect the village from pirates, and also in the area are some magnificent residences including Villa Arezzo, Villa Maggiore Amari, and Villa Palazzotto.
Sferracavallo is located in the Capo Gallo Nature Reserve, an area rich in towers such as La Grotta dell’Impiccato and the Grotta del Pecoraro.
During the last Sunday of September, Sferracavallo is tinged with festivity with the patronal feast of the ‘Santi Medici’ the twins Cosma and Damiano, a procession that attracts many tourists and locals.
Another wonderful place to visit is definitely Barcarello, the limestone quay at the water’s edge that offers a truly incredible sea, and to enjoy this view in peace and quiet, the ‘Scivoli’ are known, an area for those who want to spend their days in absolute relaxation!
