Isola delle Correnti, or Island of the Currents, is a small island located off the southeastern coast of Sicily, in the municipality of Portopalo. It is situated at the point where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Ionian Sea, and the name of the island is derived from the strong currents that occur in this area.

The island is only accessible by sea, and it is a popular tourist attraction for its crystal-clear waters and rich marine life. Its beaches are of fine white sand and offer a wide range of water activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving.

Moreover, Isola delle Correnti is also an important archaeological site. Traces of ancient Greek and Roman colonies have been found in the surrounding area, and some artifacts are displayed in the Regional Archaeological Museum of Siracusa.

The island is located about 10 km southeast of Portopalo di Capo Passero, the last village on the southern coast of Sicily. The best way to reach the island is by boat or kayak, although there are also organized tours that depart from Portopalo.

Overall, Isola delle Correnti is a beautiful and fascinating place to visit, both for its natural beauty and its historical and archaeological significance.
